Great Horned Owls

An apex predator such as the great horned owl is always a fun species to watch. They usually make their nests in other birds’ nests stealing hawks’ spots and holes in trees from other owls. They silently fly through the trees and snatch up prey including mice, voles, foxes, and other birds-even other owls are prone to their attacks. Their call is a deep, echoing sound that is hard to pinpoint similar to a ventriloquist throwing his voice. Choosing to roost in thick branches and well covered areas, their amazing camouflage enables them to blend into their surroundings.
