Barred Owls

The barred owl is one of the most common species around the northeast United States and has the most recognizable call of all owls with the “who cooks for you” call sound often heard in movies and sound bites. This was one of my first photographed species and led me into my search for more owl species and wildlife. Their nests are often hard to find but can be occupied by two or three owlets which both parents take care of until it is time to send them off to find their own territory in which to begin their lives.
